Telephone Calls / Messages
Neither teachers nor students will be called from classrooms except in cases of emergency. Each teacher has his/her own voice mailbox. In the event that a musical instrument or lunch is left at home, a parent may drop it off in the office. It is the child’s responsibility to check in the office for the item. The office will not call the student’s classroom. Students are permitted to use the telephone only when it appears absolutely essential for health and safety reasons. It is important to preserve instructional time, so we ask you to follow these guidelines:
- Make “before and after” school plans prior to arriving at school in the morning.
- Forgotten items may be dropped off at the office, then a note will be put in the teacher’s mailbox.
- Doctor’s appointments should be scheduled, when possible, after school hours. If this is not possible, please send a note to the teacher with the time and reason for early dismissal.
- Staff and students are instructed to leave a message when making phone calls from school. Therefore, we ask that you check your messages before calling the school when you see “Fairfax County Public Schools” on your caller ID. If no message was left the phone call was not urgent and you do not need to call the school.
